I wrote about portfolio trackers<\/a> at the start of the month and have encountered several problems since I published that post.<\/p>\n

I set up accounts on two sites: Cointracker<\/a> and Coinstats<\/a>.<\/p>\n

I connected my MEXC and CoinEx accounts via APIs (that expire after 30 or 90 days if you’re not careful, which is annoying).<\/p>\n

Findings<\/h2>\n

The main problem (already mentioned) was that neither of them accesses the “Earn” part of MEXC or CoinEx through their APIs.<\/p>\n

Neither includes Copy Trading at MEXC, either. I didn’t expect them to, though I believe MEXC lists those funds in Spot. I haven’t bothered verifying that because of other issues – including the omission of “Earn” funds – which make the whole thing pointless.<\/p>\n

I checked with both exchanges for the “Earn” thing.<\/p>\n

MEXC’s API doesn’t have access to that yet (though they thanked me for the idea and put it on the devs’ list – or said they did).<\/p>\n

CoinEx replied that it’s already in their API and told me where to find it.<\/p>\n

This means that both of those portfolio trackers are simply not including “Earn” for CoinEx accounts, which sucks.<\/p>\n

The Dev Convo<\/h2>\n

I’m less interested in Coinstats because they’re building add-on services. I don’t need pop-up reminders of things I can buy, on-site swapping between cryptos, tax reports or anything else. I can manage those things myself. I just want a tracker that works.<\/p>\n

Cointracker is simple and clean, so I contacted their support and asked about including “Earn” for both exchanges.<\/p>\n

Their responses were excellent: clear, honest, and escalated to the devs when first line couldn’t help.<\/p>\n

I had a lovely conversation with Chase, who works on this stuff, and discovered that Cointracker’s MEXC and CoinEx connections are in beta and don’t work properly. He looked at my account and asked me to go to both exchanges and export all my data so he could try to figure out why it doesn’t work.<\/p>\n

I politely refused, since I don’t want to give my entire financial history in crypto to an effectively anonymous person.<\/p>\n

He understood that and pointed me to their devlog so I can track how things are going with both API connections. All in all, as I said, excellent responses and very responsible – no trying to hide, openly admitting there’s something squiffy with their system, trying to fix it.<\/p>\n

In The End<\/h2>\n

When push comes to shove, none of this is worth it for me.<\/p>\n

I want a tracker that tracks what I see on an exchange. One that tracks more than one exchange and adds them together.<\/p>\n

An added bonus would be showing the value of each crypto, with changes, though that’s not essential.<\/p>\n

I don’t even need order tracking or anything clever. Just holdings and totals.<\/p>\n

That’s it.<\/p>\n

So far, I have not found a site that does this fully and properly.<\/p>\n

I do the important stuff myself anyway, in Excel, so – for now – that’s all I need.<\/p>\n
